Some Unfortunate Downfalls
If there is insufficient activity in your Border Collie’s life, then it will find its own work to do (and when we say work, we mean destruction). When not challenged daily they can and will become destructive. They cannot be left alone for too long with nothing to do, and will let you know if they have not been exercised to the point where they are both mentally and physically tired. Without satisfaction from activity, an ignored Boarder Collie can become anxious and may start using its intelligent escape artist talents, among other behavioural problems. One example of a behavioural problem in this breed is its strong herding instincts, as it may try to herd children and strangers, and must be told this is not acceptable.
